Our Story

Laszlo and Gizella Wallenstein have accomplished the true American Dream story. In 1982, they decided to leave their home in Hungary and come to the United States.

They moved straight to Los Angeles from Hungary. No strangers to hard work all along the way, they moved with their daughters to New Jersey in 1996, continuing to save their money so they could own their own business.

In 1998, Gizella decided she wanted to work with dogs, and went to grooming school. She worked as a groomer for 4 years, before she and Laszlo started looking for an existing boarding kennel to buy. Laszlo had grown up with dogs in Hungary and had owned 3 German Shepherds. Their love for dogs led them to purchase Bed and Biscuit in Ithaca in 2002, for many reasons, including the excellent reputation in the community and amongst the local vets.

In 2004, they built the canopy over the dog boarding quarters, to protect their guests from the harsh Ithaca winters. 3 years later, they cleared a half acre of wooded area to build the massive outdoor play yard, so the dogs could have the largest off-leash play area in the Ithaca area.

The Bed and Biscuit works very closely with Cayuga Dog Rescue, providing 3 individual rooms to them free of charge for their foster dogs. They put a lot of time into helping socialize these dogs so that they can find their forever homes faster.

Laszlo and Gizella are committed to caring for your pets as if they are their own. Come meet us!
